This Weller Zona rolled edge child's plate measures 1.25" high by 7" in diameter. It is a sweet, sweet design of Puddle Ducks at play. There is a central Duck on the interior of the plate and three smaller Ducks adorning the rolled edge rim. This plate is marked with the Weller full kiln ink stamp on the base. The Zona line began in 1911 and ended in 1936, according to Ann Gilbert McDonald's Weller reference book. An interesting tidbit is that 'Zona' continued into the early 1930s, when the Weller Pottery was consolidating several of the plants as a result of the Great Depression. This coincided with the divorce of Weller's daughter Ethel, from Frederic Grant, who was the President for Weller in 1932, for just a year. As a part of the divorce agreement he asked for the rights to the Zona line , which was granted. He ended up taking the Zona line rights to the Gladding McBean Co. in California, which brought about the famed Franciscan Pottery...who knew!. This plate is in original condition, no apologies.
