This Weller Roba bowl stands 3.5" high by 7.5" across by 7" in diameter. It has a triangular and footed form, an interesting shape, like many in the Roba line. The foot are formed from branches, a very nice accent. The Roba line was introduced in the early 1930s. Dorothy Laughead England designed several flower lines in the early 1930s, and Roba was one of them.Weller Pottery was designing new lines, in efforts to keep the pottery in business during a very difficult economic depression. Many of the 1930s Weller lines were based in the botanicals and florals. This vessel is decorated with simple Dogwood blossoms and leaves. The mold and color are excellent. It is glazed in matte creamy yellow to orange glazes, with white blossoms and finished to a smooth satin matte. This bowl, shape 'R-1' is well marked 'Weller Pottery, Since 1872' in script on the base and it also bears an 'A' potter's mark. This vessel is in original condition, no apologies. It makes a beautiful presentation!
