This gorgeous Weller Green Louwelsa ewer stands a very tall 14" high by 5.5" across the handle by 5" in diameter at the base and 3.5" in diameter at the spout. It has a classic ewer form, with a cylinder-like body, and a simple handle and spout. While brown Louwelsa glazes are the norm, when you encounter a green Louwelsa, it catches your full attention. The glazes are phenomenal on this ewer! It is exquisitely decorated with sprays of blackberries and leaves. The green glaze dominates this ewer from the top to the lower third, where the glaze shades to a more blushed green, a perfect green Louwelsa glaze at its best. The decoration by Charles Upjohn presents as if it were floating on the surface of a rich green glaze, which is simply stunning in its presentation. This ewer is marked with the early Weller Louwelsa half-circle seal on the base, which dates to c1896-1900, with green glaze pooling in the crevices. There is a 'U' between Louwelsa and Weller, along with its shape number 310. Upjohn's co-joined initials 'CU' are noted in the artwork. It is in factory original condition, with the usual factory mold marks, but no apologies. The shadows in the photos, are simply from camera glare, the finish is beautiful! If you appreciate Weller's Louwelsa glazes, you will love this Green Louwelsa ewer!
