This screaming Mid-century Modern vase stands 7.25" high by 3" in diameter at the bulb and 1" at the rim. While the form is a simple bud vase, this one is especially nice, in that it is glazed in 'Seminole Orange', which is a glaze developed by master potter Alrun Osterberg Guest who designed many of Haeger's mid-century lines, and made many specialty pieces through the years that were not factory production runs, so some of her work is really prized by collectors. The glaze is very striking in a lava-like orange glaze with a teal green symbol design, akin to Haeger's 'Orange Peel', a killer glaze on this piece! This vessel is retains its felt bottom, although no legible marks on the felt. It is in original factory condition, no apologies.

Alrun Guest Osterberg was a mid-century designer who came from Germany to work for Haeger Potteries in Illinois. She attended the Staatlische Facsschulen Fuer Keramik at Hohr-Grenzhausen. She brought several European glazing techniques to the United States, including the glaze on this piece which was known as 'Seminole Orange'. She is celebrated as the designer of Haeger's early modern 'Earth Wrap' glaze, which she designed in the 1940s, an early modernist designer at the forefront of the Modernist Mid-century Movement.
