This pretty, pretty Royal Doulton stoneware jardiniere stands a respectable 9" high by 10" in diameter. It has a gorgeous form with a loosely ruffled rim. It is glazed in a ground of blue, shaded on the body, but cobalt blue at the rim, with a brilliant shaded brown interior glaze. The design is in relief, so the glazes thin over the raised Art Nouveau 'Heart'-shaped leafy blossoms, which adds beautifully to its relief design, covering the shoulders of the vessel in a stunning presentation. It was decorated by artist Louisa Waters, whose initials are etched into the underside by the registration marks. This vessel is marked Royal Doulton, a mark dating to 1902-1922, and likely dates to the early 1900s, given its decorating style. It is in original condition, no apologies.
