This lovely Owens Pottery Lotus Ware jardiniere stands 6.75" high by 8" in diameter. This large ball-like form has a rolled rim, with beautifully-defined contours, and like most of the pieces in this line, it's gorgeous. It is beautifully hand painted by one of Owen's early artists, but no obvious initials or signature. There is a stray 'F' in slip, on the side of the jardiniere, which could be Charles Fout's mark, since he signed with a simple 'F'. It is decorated with gorgeous Poppy blossoms in a lavender hue, very pretty. The blossoms nearly spill over the rim on to the body of the jardiniere. This vessel is glazed in a creamy white ground, shaded in charcoal gray at the rim. It is blushed in a lighter veil of gray in the area of the artwork, accenting its presentation beautifully. This pot is illegibly signed, with just enough letters to suggest Owens, or it could simply be a letter "L'. We believe this is clearly a common Owens ball form, and it's heft is a giveaway, a nice, solid pot. This jardiniere is in original factory condition, with the usual crazing common to this line, but no apologies. This jardiniere makes a gorgeous presentation.
