This Rookwood Production porcelain candlestick stands 7.25" high by 5.25" in diameter by 3.5" at the candlecup edge. It has an interesting form of what appears to be an Asian man lying on his back, legs raised and balancing a bowl on his feet. According to the references, this figural was designed by E.B.H., although I find no identifying name to match the initials. This figural serves as a candlestem and is glazed in a simple, soft yellow Glossy glaze, which is rather thick in its application. It has a good heft to it. This candlestick is well marked with the Rookwood logo, dated 1916 and shape number 2286. It also reveals a 'P', for its porcelain body. This vessel is in factory original condition, with glaze skips around the candlecup area. There appears to be a very faint 'x' in the base foot. If you collect Rookwood Pottery, this one is rather unusual.
