This Rookwood Ivory Jewel Porcelain vase stands a demure 5" high by 4" in diameter (2" at rim). It has a classic ovoid form, simple, yet allowing for a great palette. This vase was decorated by William E. Henschel, one of Rookwood's most accomplished artists of the Arts & Crafts/Art Deco periods. It is decorated in an intricate layered design, akin to a Paisley pattern with tiny hand-painted sketchy blossoms. It is dated 1922, but is clearly Art Deco in its design presentation. One would assume that this was decorated by a woman, perhaps Barrett or Epply, given its design, but it is clearly signed by Henschel. It is an Ivory Jewel Porcelain glaze and Henschel finished the decoration with a brown/black drippy band at the collar. It is finished in a glossy sheen. This sweet vase is well marked with the Rookwood logo, along with its shape number 2191, and it is dated 1922. Henschel's initials are also noted on the base. This vessel is in original condition, no apologies.
