This rather interesting Rookwood early TEST vase stands 4" high by 4.5" in diameter, with a rim diameter of 3". It has a classic urn/bowl form, with a nice rolled collar. This vessel is glazed in an organic teal blue-green glaze with distinct black glaze lines separating the vessel into three sections. Each section is numbered on the underside, 1, 2, and 3. It has a satin matte finish. It is well marked and it is dated 1900, with 14 flames. It is Z-Line shape number 124Z. It bears William McDonald's initials on the base, in the same black glaze used to section the vessel, along with a number/letter code of '17A'. This vessel is in fine original condition, no apologies. At the very least, it is a curiosity, clearly a TEST vase, which will remain a mystery, at least for now!
