This Rookwood Decorated Mat/Double Vellum covered jar stands 5.75" high by 5" in diameter, and 3.25" at the rim lid. It has a very sweet and charming lidded form, a design by John D. Wareham. It was decorated by Elizabeth Barrett, whose tenure at the Rookwood Pottery was from 1924-1948. This covered jar is decorated with tiny blue blossoms, akin to Forget-me-knots. Best of all, it is glazed in a gorgeous rosey ground, shading light and dark, with blue blossoms, and a veil of blue double vellum glaze covering the pot from tip to toe. Like many of Barrett's pots, this vessel has an awesome glaze effect that allows the rosey ground glaze to peek through, giving this vessel wonderful dimension. It has a satin mat finish. This pot is shape number 2962, and it is dated 1926, along with the standard Rookwood cipher on the base. It bears Barrett's initials cipher, a cojoined stylized 'EB' on the base. This lovely covered jar is in original factory condition, no apologies. This very sweet Wareham-designed Barrett jar makes a stunning Art Deco presentation!
