This Rookwood Decorated Mat vase stands a demure 5.5" high by 3" in diameter. It has a charming shapely and statuesque form, with a flared rim. This vase was decorated with sweet, tiny red blossoms and green leaves by Harriet Elizabeth Wilcox, known as 'Hattie' to her friends and coworkers. The artwork is beautifully executed, with ethereal qualities, which say 'Pick-me-up!'. This small vessel is glazed in a gorgeous shaded rich blue ground, with a rose interior. It is finished to a satin matte. This vase is well marked with the Rookwood logo and dated 1923, shape number 356F, a great period for Rookwood pots. It is also initialed 'H.E.W.' by Wilcox on the base. This Decorated Mat beauty is in well-restored condition for a rim chip on the outer rim area. It bears a 'Professionally Restored' paper label, likely from Old World Restorations from Cincinnati. There is a pinhole in the area of the blossoms, and some thin glaze on the interior, which are well shown in the photos. This very sweet and charming bauble would grace any collection.
