This Rookwood Decorated Mat vase stands 9" high by 4" square at the hip, and 1.25" at the rim. It has a beautifully statuesque form, squarish at the hip and tapering to a rounded cylinder neckline. This beauty is decorated in thick, heavy slip, with a trailing garland of blossoms and leaves at the hip, and a line design decoration at the rim. This decoration is by one of Rookwood's prized female artists, Miss Elizabeth Lincoln, Miss Elizabeth Lincoln, who spent her art career at the Rookwood Pottery, from 1892-1931. She chose a rich palette of colors in a deep shaded ruby red and plum blush, with wonderfully complementary colors in the decoration, an absolute stunner. This vase is well marked, dated 1922 in Roman Numerals, shape 1697, and initialed by Elizabeth Lincoln on the base 'L.N.L.'. This handsome vessel, which begs to be touched, is in factory original condition, no apologies, it's gorgeous!
