This very impressive Rookwood Decorated Mat/Double Vellum vase stands a respectable 9.75" high by 6" in diameter at the shoulder, and 4" at the rim, 4.75" at the base edge. It has a shapely bulbous form, with a cinched collar. This beauty was decorated by one of Rookwood's most celebrated male artisans, Jens Jensen, a Danish-American Modernist, whose tenure at Rookwood was from 1928-1948. He decorated this vase with a stylized modern motif, sort of an exotic blossom motif,, in classic Jensen style. He used a pleasing color palette, with a yellow ground with an orange double overglaze at the shoulders, an aqua blue interior and very complementary colors in the decoration, a beautiful presentation. This vase is well marked on the base with the Rookwood logo, dated 1929, shape number 2303. This vessel is in original condition, no apologies.
