This Rookwood Decorated Mat vase stands 5" high by 7.5" in diameter. It has a handsome bulbous urn form, with a cinched collar and a rolled rim. The form was designed by Pitts Harrison Burt. This beauty is decorated all around with berries and leaves by one of Rookwood's prized female artists, Miss Elizabeth Lincoln, who spent her art career at the Rookwood Pottery, from 1892-1931. She chose a rich palette of colors in a shaded ruby red and plum blush, with wonderfully complementary colors in the decoration, and a bold line design finishing off the rim. The glaze effect is awesome on this vessel. This urn/vase is well marked, dated 1925 in Roman Numerals, shape 494B, and initialed by Elizabeth Lincoln on the base 'L.N.L.'. This very handsome vessel is in factory original condition, no apologies, it's gorgeous!
