This Rookwood Decorated Mat/Double Vellum vase stands 7" high by 4.25" in diameter at the base, and 3" at the rim. It has a simple, yet handsome form, tapering slightly at the rim. It was decorated by Elizabeth Barrett, whose tenure at the Rookwood Pottery was from 1924-1948. This vase is decorated with a trailing garland of red blossoms and green leaves covering the pot. It is glazed in a very handsome yellow ochre ground. Like many of Barrett's pots, this vessel has an awesome double vellum glaze effect that covers this pot from tip to toe. It has a satin mat finish. This pot is shape number 1358E, and it is dated 1925, along with the standard Rookwood cipher on the base. It bears Barrett's initials cipher, a cojoined stylized 'EB' on the base. This vase is in original factory condition, no apologies. This very handsome Barrett pot makes a wonderful presentation!
