This impressive Rookwood Carved Mat vase stands a respectable 11.5" high by 6.5" in diameter (5" at rim). It has a classic large form, with a very handsome Arts & Crafts stylized and carved Mackintosh Rose blossom motif. This vase was decorated by William Henschel, one of Rookwood's most accomplished artists of the Arts & Crafts period. It is glazed in a handsome mat deep blue glaze, with drippy red glazes over the blossoms and touches of drippy green over the leaves. This very impressive vase is well marked with the Rookwood logo, along with its shape number 1369C, and it is dated 1914, a great period for Henschel pots. Henschel's initials/cipher are also noted on the base. This exceptionally handsome vessel is in original condition, no apologies.
