This Rookwood Production bowl stands 3" high by 5.25" in diameter at the rim, and 2" in diameter at the base. It has a pleasing form by Rookwood's own John D. Wareham. It is decorated with stylized Butterflies in a repeating pattern all around the body of the bowl, a design by Kataro Shiriyamadani, one of Rookwood's most accomplished artists of the Arts & Crafts period. It is glazed in an organic green over rose mat glaze that thins at the high points, accenting the form and design beautifully. This bowl is well marked and it is dated 1919, shape number 1800. It is in original condition, with a factory-glazed base edge nick, which is covered in glaze.
