This lovely Arts & Crafts-style Motawi Tileworks Redwood Landscape Tile was designed by Yoshiko Yamamoto, a Japanese block printmaker, who produced several designs for Motowi. Yamamoto’s graceful, swaying Arts & Crafts scenes bring the fired clay tile to life. This 'Redwoods Landscape' design is taken from a Yamamoto wood block print of the same name. It measures 8" high by 6" across by .75" thick, a nice heavy tile with a deeply carved presentation. While the design was Yamamoto's, this decorative ceramic tile was handcrafted by Motowi Tileworks ceramicists' in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It can be displayed on the wall, using the notch on the back of the tile, or placed on an easel stand. It is in original studio condition, no apologies. It bears the Matowi Tileworks impressed stamp, along with a name in slip that appears to read 'Jody', perhaps the name of the glazier.
