This set of Marion Bronze bookends measures 8" high by 5" across by 4.5" wide. They depict a scholar sitting atop a ladder in a library reading. He is a bearded man, in a long jacket and wearing a skull cap. The details on this set are beautifully executed, with a great old world styling. They are polychromed in rich and vibrant colors. These bookends are bronze-jacketed, which is a mixture of white metals with a rich, gold tone polished patina. They are filled with a composition and weigh in at a solid 12 pounds for the set, so they are made to hold books. They are listed in the catalog pages for Marion Bronze and titled the 'Old Professor'. This set is well marked 'MB' on the backsides and likely date to the late 1930s. This set is in excellent original condition, with minimal handling wear. They would make a wonderful addition to any room or library!
