This Fratantoni Ceramic Works 'Blossom and Leaf' tile measures 11.5" long by 8" high and 1" thick, a nice slab tile. The Fratantoni Ceramic Works started in business in the mid-20th century, in Italy, making all variety of decorative tiles. This tile is faience-decorated with a hand-painted design, which looks like a long blossom stalk with leaves. It is glazed in a very nice combination of faience glaze colors, and is piped in a deep brown double accent border line. It is well marked 'Ceramiche Fratantoni' and 'Made in Italy' on the backside. It is also signed in glaze on the frontside 'Fratantoni'.  This tile is in fine condition, with just very minor edge nicks from use over the years, as can be seen in the photos. It weighs a solid 4 pounds and 12 ounces.This tile dates to the mid-20th century. If you collect art tiles, this Italian Faience-decorated tile is a wonderful example of classic Italian design.
