This very unusual pyrography playing cards box measures 4" high by 3" across by 2" wide. It is made to hold two decks of playing cards. It was likely produced by the Flemish Art Company in New York at the turn of the last century. It is a nice early Flemish box, with a gorgeous deeply carved Irises/Lily motif. There are very nicely carved accent details from top to bottom. The original patina is a lush beautiful brown. This box does not bear the Flemish Art mark. It is in original condition, with a split in the underside wood panel, which shows some glue remnants from its original gluing, so we think the split was in the wood originally, and glued for preservation. This vintage lidded playing cards box makes a very rich Arts & Crafts presentation.
