This lovely English vase stands a very large 12" high by 9" in diameter. It is called Whieldon Ware and the line name is 'Picardy'. It was produced by the F. Winkle Co, c1908-1925. It has a bulbous and statuesque form that is quite impressive. It is a black-glazed porcelain vessel, which is ornately decorated, and covered in a lovely hand painted design, very Asian in style, with Imari style Bird of Paradise and a cherry blossom tree pattern and butterfles dancing all around. The decoration covers the entire pot, which gives this pot a 'pick-me-up' attitude. This 100-year old vessel is well marked on the base with all the hallmarks. It is in excellent condition, with normal wear to the gold rim from handling, and a very good professional restoration to a line and chip on the interior rim. This beauty makes a wonderfully rich presentation.
