This Weller Jap Birdimal lamp stands 12" high. It is a vase conversion, with the vase measuring 8" high by 4.5" in diameter. The Jap Birdimal line was designed by Frederick Hurten Rhead around 1903. This converted lamp has a full-bodied form. It is squeezebag decorated with a white Geese in flight. The blue/gray glaze is typical Jap Birdimal in style and finished to a high gloss. The design itself is expertly executed, with great precision, and vibrant white color over the geese, with yellow accents. This lamp is set on a wood base, so we do not know if it is marked. We did not take it apart. We guarantee it to be vintage Weller, circa 1903. It is in its found condition, likely drilled through the base. It has a wood cap and base that are stained deep chestnut, almost black in color. There is a notch in the under base wood platform to allow for the cord to be recessed. This is a working lamp and it presents very handsomely.
