This Rookwood Standard Glaze vase stands rather proudly at 10" high by 7" in diameter at the hip, tapering to 2" diameter at the tapered neckline, and 4" at the flared and ruffled rim. It has a rather statuesque form, shape 468BB, designed by William Watts Taylor. It was decorated by an artist's whose cipher appears to be '-G'. We have not been able to identify the artist, but whoever decorated this vessel, was a very skilled srtist. It is decorated with beautiful orange blossoms and leaves. The glaze colors are gorgeous in a brown standard glaze, blushed in yellow and shading to a rich chocolate brown near the base. This beauty is well marked with the well-known Rookwood logo, and seven flames, dating this vase to1893. '-G's' initials/cipher is noted on the base, along with its shape number 468BB and an impressed 'W' for white clay. This shapely vessel is in original factory condition, with just a couple of no harm handling marks and minute scratches, simply minimal wear from handling over the last 100+ years. The shadows in the photos are from camera glare, the glaze finish is very bright and uniform. This large and impressive vase makes a beautiful presentation!
