This Rookwood Standard Glaze early hand-thrown vase stands rather proudly at 13" high by 5" in diameter at the base, tapering to 2.5" diameter at the slightly flared rim. It has an early and statuesque form, shape 807, and according to Peck, this vessel is hand-thrown, and we concur. This vase has a wonderful heft in hand. This decoration is by one of Rookwood's prized female artists, Miss Elizabeth Lincoln, who spent her art career at the Rookwood Pottery, from 1892-1931. She decorated this vessel with beautiful Poppy blossoms and leaves. The glaze colors are gorgeous in a shaded brown standard glaze, with reddish hues. The artwork is expertly executed, with Poppy blossoms, blushed in yellow and orange, and green leaves. The translucency of the glaze is superb. This beauty is well marked and dated with the well-known Rookwood logo, dating this vase to1900, with a full complement of flames around the logo. Lincoln's initials/cipher 'LNL' are noted on the base, along with its shape number 807. This very tall and shapely vessel is in very good restored condition for a simple chip at the rim, and reportedly restored by Old World Restorations from Cincinnati, It has a small factory clay separation on the base, shown in the photos with just a couple of no harm handling marks and minute scratches, simply minimal wear from handling over the last 100+ years. The shadows in the photos are from camera glare, the glaze finish is very bright and uniform. This very large and impressive vase decorated by Eizabeth Lincoln makes a beautiful presentation!
