This Rookwood spoon rest/ashtray/pipe rest stands .75" high by 3.5" long by 2.25" wide. It has a simple, very functional form, designed by William T. Glass. Best of all, this little bauble is glazed in a nice mottled and pooled orange ground, with a fabulous carmelized and feathered brown, all finished to a satin mat. It is well marked on the base with the Rookwood logo, along with its shape number 7183, and dated 1961. The Rookwood references call this shape an ashtray, but it clearly could be a suitable spoon/pipe rest. It is in original factory condition, no apologies. There area couple of white spots in the photos, so I rechecked it, but it was schmut that I missed after it dried. The white spots were just old paper residue, and are no longer present.
