This Rookwood Decorated Mat Vellum vessel stands 8" high by 3.25" in diameter. It has a slender form with a rolled rim. It was decorated by Sarah Elizabeth Coyne (1876-1939), called 'Sallie'. Her tenure at the Rookwood Pottery was from 1891-1936. This vase is decorated with a whispy stylized floral and berry garland motif, which lays on the collar of this vessel beautifully. It is glazed in a simple snow white ground, with a deep purple haze over the blossom heads and berries, and green leaves. It has a smooth satin mat finish. The interior is glazed in a deep purple, very rich in its presentation. This pot is shape number 951E, and it is dated 1916, along with the standard Rookwood cipher on the base. It bears Coyne's initials cipher, 'SEC' on the base. This vase is in original factory condition, no apologies. This simple, yet elegant Rookwood beauty makes a stunning presentation!
