This Pigeon Forge hanging tile measures 9" square. It is from Pigeon Forge's Zodiac tile series in 1974 by Douglas Ferguson. This November tile is represented by the 'Sagittarius' symbol. Sagittarius is the ninth astrological sign, which is associated with the constellation Sagittarius and spans 240–270th degrees of the zodiac. Under the tropical zodiac, the sun transits this sign between approximately November 23 and December 21. Represented by the archer, Sagittarians are always on a quest for knowledge. The last fire sign of the zodiac, Sagittarius launches its many pursuits like blazing arrows, chasing after geographical, intellectual, and spiritual adventures. This tile is fabulously glazed in a gorgeous thick volcanic, and bubbled glaze, which covers the entire surface and rolls over the side edges. The glaze colors are a deep brown, with some black, and an oyster white, all pebbled and bubbly, a fabulous glaze combination. It is marked and guaranteed to be Pigeon Forge Pottery from Tennessee, along with D. Ferguson and the date 1974. It is in original factory condition. If you collect Pigeon Forge's tiles, or their volcanic glazed vessels, here's your chance to add a beautiful and impressive American art tile to your collection, it makes a fabulous mid-century presentation!
