This Rasmus 'Peter' Ipsen vase from Bornholm, Denmark stands 6.25" high by 4.5" in diameter, and 3" in diameter at the rim. It has a wonderfully shapely rounded ball form, with a generous palette. It is adorned with a bird motif designed by Georg Jensen (1866-1935), a sculptor at the Ipsen Studios. The scene is beautifully modeled, with nicely refined features. This vase is glazed in a rich and vibrant orange, green and brown combination of glazes, with very complementary colors in the decoration, which is very striking in its presentation. This vase is well marked with the Ipsen impressed mark on the base, along with its shape number 442, initialed 'GJ' for Georg Jensen'XI and Denmark. It is in original studio condition, no apologies. If you like Danish pottery, or Ipsen's or Jensen's work in particular, you will absolutely LOVE this vase!
