This gorgeous Limoges china-painted decorated tray/dish stands 1.25" high by 8.5" in diameter. It has an octagonal form. It is porcelain white, and is decorated with copious apple blossoms in a garland or wreath, and a heavy gilt trim encompassing the entire periphery, simply a gorgeous presentation. The blossoms are pink and white, painted in an enamel-like slip, like icing on a cake. It is well marked with a Limoges logo, likely a Limoges blank, made specifically for china painters. Many companies sold their white porcelain-like ware to china-painters at the turn of the last century. Many women, mostly homemakers, were buying items to decorate in women's groups, or simply to work on at home in their leisure time. Some pieces are very ornate, some pretty, pretty decorative objects, such as this one. The styles varied from an Arts & Crafts motif, sometimes transitioning to more of an Art Deco style. Oftentimes, the women would initial their work, and this one is signed by 'A.Koegel' and also bears her cipher. This tray/dish is in original condition, no apologies. It makes a simply stunning presentation!
