This heavy and thick Grueby tile measures 3/4" thick, by 6" wide by 6" long. It has a classic square form, likely a table or floor tile. It is glazed in a very organic mat oatmeal curdled or broken glaze, as shown in the photos, finished in a satin mat.This simple tile is well-marked 'Grueby Tile, Boston', and guaranteed to be vintage Grueby, c1902-1905 period. It is in near original factory condition, with the usual glaze nuances common to Grueby tiles and just minor handling wear. There is a glaze pop or edge fleck well-shown in the photos, along with some residue from a previous installation. It would serve well as a framed tile, for a table insert, a desk paperweight, or simply as a base for a pot.
