This lovely pyrography bookrack measures 5.5" high by 13.5" across by 5.25" wide. It was produced by the Flemish Art Company in New York at the turn of the last century. It is a nice early Flemish bookrack, with a gorgeous deeply carved Poppies/Leaves motif. There is a finely carved seeded ground over the entire rack, reminiscent of Poppy seeds, as shown in the photos. The original patina is a very deep beautiful brown. It has working brass hinges for the end caps with copper nailheads, and the sides fold flat. This bookrack does bear the Flemish mark, along with its shape number, which appears to be D17. It is signed by the artist on the bottom, whose initials appear to be R.L.P., along with the date Jan 19, 1907. It is in original condition, with just normal handling wear from many years of use. This vintage bookrack makes a very rich Arts & Crafts presentation.
