This set of Engle Studios Gazelles are killer mid-century figures. It is a matched set with the tallest measuring in at a whooping 16" tall by 13" across by 9" wide. The reclining Gazelle stands 9.5" high by 13" long by 9" wide. Frank Engle produced many animal pairs in his mid-century designs, and this is one of the larger sets. They have a fabulous form and they are glazed in gorgeous oyster and plum glazes with flecks of deep blue in the plum glaze. Each Gazelle is impressed with Engle Studios imprint stamp, one quite clear, the other is blurred, but we guarantee this set to be original to the other. This set is in miraculously original condition, no apologies. These will each be boxed separately because they are so large. The shipping fees are estimated to ship this set across the country safely. If they cost substantially less than assessed, we will issue a partial refund for shipping. We simply want these to get to their destination intact. If you are a fan of mid-century decorative objects that make a statement, these fit the bill, they're fabulous! Actual shipping will be based upon your zip code.
Frank L. Engle (1916-2002) was an internationally known sculptor, designer, painter, glass artisan, ceramicist, and professor. Engle completed numerous commissioned works, the majority of which were in welded steel, lead, fiberglass and plaster, and was an avid advocate for the arts. A wonderful article written for the University of Alabama, highlighting his artistic accomplishments by his daughter (I believe she is his daughter) Eve can be found in an online search. The scope of his work spanned decades, a very accomplished mid-century artist.
