This very handsome Denbac French pottery vase stands 14" high by 6" across the handles by 5.5" in diameter. It has a handsome handled form, with a nice shoulder.  It is glazed in a rustic ochre under glaze, with a random mossy green drip glaze, which is laced with an oyster frost.  It is marked "Denbac" on the base. According to Jason Jacques website (a great informative art pottery site), Denbac founder René Denert began producing ceramics in his workshop in 1908 and licensed his firm in 1909. Running the business with his wife, he produced pieces under his own name 'Denert'.  In 1921, R.L. Balichon joined Denert. Their joint atelier, known as Denbac, handcrafted high-fired stoneware with distinctive micro-crystalline glazes that have a velvety feel, and a subtle range and gradation of color. Denbac wares were sold in Paris and exported to England and Switzerland. The factory ceased production during World War II (1939 - 1945), then reopened for a few years before permanently closing.  This very handsome vase is in mint condition, no apologies. It has an awesome glaze, you will not be disappointed.
