This Dedham Pottery plate measures about 1" high by 6" in diameter. The Dedham Pottery operated from about 1896-1943. This plate has a classic bread plate form with a short foot ring. This plate was decorated by Maude Davenport with a repeating pattern of grapes, a scarce design. It is glazed in Dedham's signature blue and white crackled glaze effect, with great detailing in the design. We recently spoke to a gentleman from Boston who recalls attending a large dinner party with his parents in the 1960s, where the entire dinner table was set in Dedham pottery, hard to imagine! This plate is well marked with the Dedham ink stamp mark, and it bears Maude Davenport's 'O' mark in the decoration, shown in the photos. It is in excellent condition, with a very good restoration to three small rim edge chips. It bears the usual no harm factory smudges, glaze bubbling and skips on the backside, all shown in the photos. This is a very critical description, this original grapes plate makes a beautiful presentation!
