This Cliftwood candlestick stands 7.5" high by 3.25" in diameter at the base edges and 1.75" in diameter at the rim.  It has a simple form with nice lines, rather Arts & Crafts in its presentation.  The glaze is a deep drippy blue over gray and off-white under glazes, and finished in a nice satin sheen. It is unmarked, except for the pencil number '85', which may be its shape number, not sure. This form is documented online as Cliftwood Potteries, and we concur. The Cliftwood Potteries, which was started by Matthew Rapp & Sons in Morton, Illinois in 1920 produced some nice forms and a variety of handsome glazes. This vessel likely dates to c1930s. The pottery closed in the early 1940s. It is in original condition, no apologies. It makes a very nice presentation.
