This hand-thrown studio pottery vase stands 4" high by 5.5" across by 5" in diameter. It has a hand-thrown form, buttressed, with small, yet thick hand-tooled handles at its sides. It is glazed in an organic simple brown glaze, finished to a flat mat. The potter marked this vessel on the underside, with what looks like a structure, along with an incised number 5. We cannot interpret the mark, which was likely a clever mark, known only to the artist, who likely made this vessel in a college or high school pottery class. This vase is in original studio condition, with the usual glaze nuances that are common in studio pots. While not dated, it is likely an old pot closer to the Arts & Crafts period, given its form and glaze.
