This very handsome porcelain covered jar was made in Bavaria for the china-painting trade. It measures 6.75" high by 4.5" in diameter. It has a handsome form with a domed lid. It is decorated in a repeating motif of an owl in front of a full yellow moon, a great design by artist Agnes Vincent, dated 1914 and signed on the inner lid. She used magnificent colors, which are finished in a satin semi-gloss sheen. It looks like the monogram on the domed lid reads 'RGV', which was perhaps a gift for her husband or other relative. The base is marked Bavaria on the underside. This jar is in good, stable condition. There was a spider line in the base portion, which has been stabilized and restored on the exterior, and presents most handsomely. The lid has a couple of old surface chips in the interior rim, which does not show when the lid is in place. If you appreciate china-painted wares, you just found a keeper, it's beautiful!
